Does bringing greenery into your home put you in spring mode? It sure does for me. The color and freshness of living things just wakes me up and brings new life to our home. I am ready for some fresh herbs and wanted to springify our kitchen island. I had three terra cotta pots sitting in our garage and I decided to weather them, add a chalkboard sticker and tuck some herbs in there to bring spring inside our home even if it is still winter outside.
I watered down a light blue, white, and black craft paint and brushed them onto my pots. They dried really quickly and there was no technique involved. You don't want perfection-more a weathered and natural look. Add as much paint as you prefer. Here are my pots at each stage of painting.
I found some clearance chalkboard calendar stickers at target a few weeks back and I knew they would come in handy sooner or later. I will probably transplant these herbs outdoors in May and this way I can change the design, lettering, or wording for whatever I have in the pots.
I love the clean and bright look of these. We had a party last weekend and set these on our outdoor patio table and they look great outside too. I was thinking about spraying some clear outdoor spray paint on them so they are safe when we want to have them outdoors too.
How are you welcoming spring into your home?
