I have this narrow, small, kind of awkward space in my dining room that has been making me crazy since we moved into this house. For years, I have been waiting for just the perfect inspiration at my many thirft store trips. When I walked into my favorite store and saw this I ran to it, hugged, and claimed it as my own even before I saw the price tag.
I searched and searched and NO price tag. Well, if you have ever been to a thrift store you know this could be bad! Sometimes they take the item away to the "back room" and it needs to sit in line and wait to get tagged. I was not going home without this. Just so happened a manager walked by while i was plotting a course of action and I shouted, "there is no tag! I want it!" She kind of giggled and said, "Okay, $14.99." Yahooooo
It sat in this spot dented and scratched up for a few months until I finally came around to painting it. The floor and table are wood so I knew it needed some contrast. I decided to make my own chalk paint and paint it to match the end chairs I have in there and it is just perfect. My chalk paint recipe is SO easy and I already had everything I needed to make this happen.
I did scratch it up a little though and realized I need to do another coat of wax....super fun!
I love these baskets from Hobby Lobby that are holding all of our tablecloths and napkins out of sight.
This is our view when we walk in the front door and I am just so happy with how it turned out. I keep walking in there to just sit and look around at my finally finished room!
