I am a HUGE fan of upcycling and reusing materials every chance I get. I have had this ugly little bench in my garage for about 2 years and it was ready to come out of hiding and into the spotlight.

My daughter keeps stealing the bench I have in my closet, so I knew this would be the perfect project for her and save me from having to retreive my own bench at least once a day.

I was also excited to have the opportunity to try out the new Frog Tape® Delicate Surfaceon this project. Did you see this mess I had with painting tape last week? I was definitely in the market for the best possible painting tape out there and I think I have found it! The Frog Tape® Delicate Surface tape has Paint Block® technology. It adheres to latex paint and creates a gel bond to prevent seepage. BRILLIANT.

Even though I knew all of these claims I really was still skeptical that there would be areas I needed to touch up when I finished. I usually paint a coat of base paint over tape edges when I use painting tape because if I don't the paint always leaks through. I decided I needed to give this tape a true fair shot. So I followed the directions to the letter, watched this FrogTape how-to, and was shocked with my 99% perfect results. Really, this is the best paint tape I have ever used...and believe me I have tried them all!

Step 1
I used this old bench I found in my garage. I stripped off the padding and got to work on my base coat of latex paint. I needed three coats to cover up the ugly brown.

Step 2
I let the base coat dry for a full 24 hours before applying my Frog Tape® Delicate Surface

Step 3
I measured and applied my tape to create stripes on the bench legs. I made sure there were no bubbles and the tape was adhering smoothly and completely.

Step 4
I painted 2 coats of white latex paint to create the stripes. I pulled the tape off immediately after I applied the second coat, but it is removeable up to 60 days after it was applied!

Step 5
I wanted to create a thin yellow stripe as well. I waited for the white to be dry for 24 hours and then applied the Frog Tape® Delicate Surface™ one more time. I painted 3 coats of yellow and removed the tape immediately.

Do you see that beautiful, crisp, and perfect line? The entire bench looked this good and I almost fell over. I couldn't have been more happy with the results! I used and old pillow and sheet to create the upholstered top and was finished!
