I am always looking for a reason to get friends together and enjoy time catching up on our busy lives. Families, spouses, kids, pets, traveling all occupy or lives. It is so important to take time to stop and get together with those that matter. Fostering those relationships and relaxing together reenergizes me! So just do it!
I have a few mom friends who are available during the weekdays when most of the kids are busy at school, so we decided to get together last Monday morning and I set up a fabulous brunch to surprise them! I made some delicious food that I knew Amy, Jenny, and Amanda would enjoy! I also offered a few yummy new Lipton Tea variteies so I would have something to fit everyones taste. Lipton has improved so many of their varieties and I have been loving the herbal varieties with real ingredients as an every afternoon treat for myself! The Lemon Ginger is my favorite.
Lipton’s new black and herbal varieties and improved green teas refresh the tea experience with bold and stimulating flavors, such as Enticing Chai, Pure Green, Orange Passionfruit Jasmine and Peach Mango. The updated green teas have a light, fresh taste, bright clearer color and delightful aroma. Enjoy the uplifting and refreshing flavor in every sip of Lipton Green Teas! Available now nationwide. I love these after breakfast while I am driving the kids to school and then getting my day started.
There are a few things that I always include to make sure our event -big or small - is a success.
#1 Variety of food choices
I had savory and sweet, mostly healthy, and homemade food choices for my girlfriends. I knew they would appreciate the thought and care to detail. However, you don't have to make everything homemade! Just have food that you know your friends will enjoy and a nice variety will be appreciated. I can't keep up with everyones dietary needs and preferences, so I try to have wide range. If kids are joining make sure you have itmes for them that are easy to grab and easy to eat. Try to have one main course and then side dishes to compliment it.
#2 Variety of Drink Choices
While the tea was the highlight of this brunch, I had water, coffee, and juice as well. Everyone has different preferences, so at least three choices should cover your crowd. I added in honey, coconut sugar, cream, lemon, and essential oils to stir into our delicious teas and make them even more special.
#3 Enough Dishes and Silverware
Seems a no brainer, but plastic and paper is just not going to show your friends that this is a special event. I do not buy expensive pieces, but I always buy white so everything matches! I grab pieces when I see them at thrift stores or on sale and since everything is simple and white it all blends together. We also often drink from mason jars becasue they are cheap and durable and my kids don't break them. I also make sure to have child friendly cups and dishes for our little friends who join the fun.
#4 Set a Pretty Table
Use what you have! I used cutting boards, dollar store servers, cutting boards, and cake plates. Mix and matching serving dishes cretes interest and a fun table! I have a few matching tablecloths that I always use for entertaining.
#5 Finish Everything Before Guests Arrive
I am a HUGE fan of this for any of our parties. I want to be able to enjoy our get together! So, I usually prepare fod and everything else ahead of time. When my guests arrive, I want to hang out and relax too! If I am stressing over cooking and finishing dishes that isn't going to happen.
I would love to hear your tips on planning successful parties and brnches!
