We had a fabulous "Sweet Safari" birthday party for my lovely seven year old daughter, Holden, last weekend!
This was such a fun and easy theme to run with! I used crepe paper and green paper to create vines and leaves hung throughout the house. I also bought some safari images which I used to create her invitations, birthday signs, and food labels. I can't rememeber where I purchased them-it was too long ago!
My son helped me create our chalkboard and I used scrapbook paper to make the "Holden" and "sweet safari" banners.
Naming all of our food was probably the most fun part for all of us!
I was REALLY excited to have another chance to use my homemade wood cupcake stand I made for this party last year.
I used scrapbook paper, my animal images, and toothpicks to make the cupcake picks. I also hung these little guys with some birthday signs around the house.
The party was mid afternoon so we didn't do a full meal. Just snacks and treats.
cheetah's cheese and crackers
ostrich eggs (deviled eggs)
Chocolate covered ants (raisinets)
monkey munch (rice chex, banana chips, chocolate chips, almonds)
going bananas pudding (vanilla pudding, cool whip, sliced bananas)
and the hit of the party....elephant poop (chocolate rice krispie treats)
For an activity we made safari necklaces. I cut out a bunch of green leaves and punched holes in them so they could be strung onto jute. Then I put out feathers, markers, stickers, and animal print tissue paper. The kids had so much fun making masterpieces to wear and run around like natives.
We also had a pinata and I made these little treat bags of regular brown lunch bags.
It was such a great day and we were so fortunate to have some nice spring weather! The kids got to run off the candy and treats and enjoy the sunshine.
What have been your kids favorite party themes? So far this one and my bacon party that my son had are my favorites!
