I am on a mission to make my miniscule back yard a cozy entertaining space wehre the whole family can enjoy time together. Did I mention it was tiny...right I did. I made these awesome outdoor solar lamps and chalkboard serving tray last week and really needed a place to put them that wasn't on the patio table where we eat and play games, but still close enough to give us some light in the evenings.
I went to my usual 4 thrift stores searcing for a metal cart to redo, but apparently everyone in Denver likes thier metal carts and doesn't donate them. At the last store, my daughter came stumbling over to me lugging this wood table and asked if it might work. Hmmm, I was hoping with enough coats of waterproof outdoor paint it would be just the thing!
I sprayed 2 coats of primer, 3 coats of color, and 3 coats of clear. I used the Valspar outdoor paint for that lovely bright blue! I am hoping it will hold up for a few summers, but really then entire project cost about $12 total so if it only lasts for 2 seasons I am okay with that.
I am really loving it! And if one day we switch out our chair cushions I can just repaint it a different matching color. I am wokring on some mason jar lanterns as well, you can see them on that bottom shelf. They are also lending to our cozy atmosphere.
We plan on spending some relaxing time out there AFTER the kids go bed too!
