I have such a hard time with my mantle.
I love the addition of Larry the Deer-he is just a great base for every season, but I always struggle with how to style it. Decorating does not really come naturally to me. I am good at copying other ideas I see though!
I didn't love my mantle last fall and I wanted it to be a bit different this year. We are still going with the neutral look in our family room and a quick trip to Hobby Lobby gave me just the easy accents I was looking for.
I kept our log monogram that I made a few weeks ago and added some flameless candles and a little metal dish turned upside down as a candle holder.
I searched the house high and low, and finally I found this sweet ceramic pumpkin. You do not even want to see our basement storage area. I am kind of surprised I can ever find anything in there!
I bought this Blessings banner ready made for 40% off at Hobby Lobby. For $4 it was well worth not having to deal with burlap scraps and bits everywhere if I had made it myself. I also tied these adorable metal acorn bells along the banner to give it a little excitement.
And of course, my son needed to add a gorgeous crow skeleton to my fall lantern. I filled lanterns on my porch and inside the house with pinecone mixtures I also found on sale at Hobby Lobbby.
I go back and forth with my Halloween decorating. Halloween projects were my first ever blog posts, which makes me nostalgic. But, when I put the effort into holiday decorating, I would like it to last for longer than one month. So this year we are mostly fall with a lovely crow skeleton addition!
