A few months ago I was strolling through our neighborhood ACE and noticed three mini cardboard spools laying on the ground. I piped up and asked if they were destined for the dumpster and they were! I snagged them and immediately started brainstorming what I could do with them. Then I totally stalled....for like three months. But last week I noticed them again in my pile of "junk" in the garage and grabbed one.
I grabbed a bottle of brown spray paint and sprayed one of them. After everything was dry, I used a roll of wide yarn and hot glued it around the center.
This was so easy and such a cute little accent. I love the look of the huge wooden spools and even have one in my garage! I just don't have anywhere big enough to really display it. These little spools are the perfect size for any home! This one still has some dents and dings and minor scratches, but I like the rustic look so it works.
I tucked mine in a corner in our family room. It looks perfect next to my huge plant and this little marquee number was on clearance at Lowes. Such a fun little corner now.
I just love turning trash into cute items for our home.
So I still have two spools left, what should I do with them?
