Yes, yes I am still alive!
My laptop was OUT OF COMMISSION for like 5 days. So there was no linky party last Friday and no Main Ingredient Monday, but this girl has a new operating system and we are running fast!
Did I mention to you all that my husband and I are going on vacation...to Iceland!? It started off like this,
"Let's go somewhere warm and beachy!"
"We have never taken a grown up trip to a tropical resort."
"Let's sip pina coladas while we lounge in the sun."
HOW, you may ask does that conversation end up with us deciding to go to Iceland? I am not quite sure myself. My husband is definitely a big adventurer. He doesn't love a lounging kind of vaca. I like lounging, but crave a bit of adventure. When a travel deal e-mail popped in the very evening we were searching for the perfect warm resort, it made us stop for a second. Then when we saw the ice climbing, a trek to see the northern lights, the glacial hot springs, we decided it was a once in a lifetime kind of thing and we just HAD to take advantage of it. I mean check this out....
Getting back to our post at hand, my mom is coming in to stay for a nice long visit and watch the kids while we are away. I was thinking I wanted to spruce up the guest room for her. I still have this end table sitting in my garage and thought,
"hmmm, let's take that to the guest room." Then, I realized the comforter was all wrong, the dresser needed a quick spruce up, 2 of the walls needed to be repainted, and I needed to create new wall decor. How does one lil decision turn into an entire room renovation?
I started with this awesome chalk art project which is hanging over the bed.
Today I wanted to share the sign I made using wood scraps from the wood I use to make my Scrabble Wall Tiles. I scoured Pinterest for something witty and fitting for a guest room and this is what I came up with.
I just used some stencils and painted the text by hand. Then I used the AWESOME Elmer's Paint Pens to outline in white.
The "sleeping" part is a little crooked-oops
Hopefully my mom and my other guests will be forgiving!
I will be sharing the dresser redo next week!
