I used my good old fence again!
I snagged this free old fence off of craigslist and stuffed as much of it as I could into the trunk of my Subaru station wagon. I have so many favorite projects with this fence! Here and here and here.
This one is right up there with my headboard which is my total favorite!
Man, I brought that wood home and my husband thought I lost my mind. All of the wood was splintery and cracked not to mention the rusty nails sticking out of every piece! Well, I showed him.
I decided I was over this little set up on my huge kitchen wall behind our table.
I took it all down, patched all the holes, repainted it, and stared at a big empty wall for about a month before I decided what to do with it. I am a bit chalkboard crazy and decided a big giant chalkboard covering the whole top half of the wall would be the perfect fit.
My walls are textured though, so I decided I needed to buy a lightweight piece of wood and paint that with chalkboard paint! I found a big square of plywood at Lowes and then bought their store brand of chalkboard paint in the traditional slate color and got to work.
I hung the board on the wall and then pulled out those old fence boards and got to cutting. Installing the whole thing took less than an hour and I am in love with the finished product!
I printed off a few of my favorite chalkboard art examples and went to work on my message!
It took me about an hour to do it and now I am addicted! I want to write a new message every day!
I really love how the frame looks and some spare drawer pulls are holding the chalk.
Now, I am busy collecting quotes for Thanksgiving and Christmas!
