My daughter has been asking and asking to learn to knit. Two issues; I do not know how to knit and I have some hand issues to prevent me from learning to knit with needles. However, I love supporting her creativity and hand craft projects so I was on a mission to make it happen!
When I found the Cool Brands kits at target (they are also at Walmart, Amazon, and Toys R' Us) I knew we hit the jackpot! There were four fun options and we chose the Knits Cool and Text Cool kits and got ready for a FUN afternoon.
I was really happy when we opened the Knits Cool box and found detailed instructions and a link to watch a how-to video tutorial. I need to see it to understand it and the video helped tremendously in our learning curve. It explained all of the supplies and options. There are videos for all three of the projects and supplies that are included in the Knits Cool kit as well as extra projects to try in the future. The colorful yarn, different sized pegs, needles, and base all came in the box, so you can get started right away! Holden already made me take her to the store to choose more yarn for her to make infinity scarves to give to all of her friends as Christmas gifts!
Holden is 8 and she did need my assistance to get started and we watched and paused the video and went back to the instructions often on our first project. However, after about 7 rows, she was good ot go and finished up her scarf all on her own! Now we can move on to headbands, pouches, and arm warmers! Using the pegs instead of needles made it so easy for little hands to work the yarn and create a masterpiece to be proud of!
While my son Everett was not interested in knitting, he was interested in the Text Cool Bracelets we made after we finished the scarf. The kit came with 60 letters and emoticons and 35 bracelets to easily create personalized items cool enough for boys and girls of all ages. Creativity and crafts go hand in hand and my kids are wearing their individual styles to school every day now!
We had a blast with these Cool Brands kits and they are on my list for great birthday and Christmas gifts for the special kids in our life. I would buy a creative activity gift over just another toy any day. Being able to use their hands and express their creativity are skills I always want to foster in my own kids and all the kids in our lives! Do you have nay kids you know would love these Cool Brands kits? There really is something for everyone!
