Summer boredom setting in for anyone else? Don't get me wrong, I love summer and the freedom to do anything we want, but after 4 weeks of swimming and camping we are all ready for something new and fun. How have you been keeping the young ones away from the tv and video games? I need a new idea for like every day between now and August 14th-so please share!
We did this experiment the other day and it really was easy and fun for everyone. I even enjoyed channeling my inner Picasso on our back patio.
All you need is cornstarch, water, and food coloring. I had this 6 part muffiin tin which worked perfectly to hold our paint, but you can use anything you have laying around.
We added equal parts cornstarch and water. But next time I would probably do a little more cornstarch so the paint isn't too watery.
We filled all the tins with our white paint and then created our colors in each compartment of our tin.
Don't be skimpy on the food coloring either. This paint looks bright, but dries to a pastel chalky finish.
The kids were all tentative at first and then we finally relaxed and covered our entire patio.
I love that this is easy and you already have everything sitting in your pantry anyway. Great to pull out when someone inevitibly cries, "I'm soooo bored!"
