Back when I had Christmas in July, I made a TON of upcycled, eco firendly decorations. I am SO excited the holiday season is upon us and it makes sense to start sharing them. I am guessing you all would have thought me off my rocker if I had posted this in July!
Once again, I used my old fence. A year and a half ago someone posted a trashed fence for free on Craigslist. I hightailed it across town and packed as much as would fit in the trunk of my Subaru wagon. I have been using that fence for everything from headboards, to wall art, to a message center. I was really excited to use it for my "Recycled Christmas" theme for this year.
Here are all of the MATERIALS I used for this project:
fence post
rusty springs
book page stars
jute
raffia
nails
I started by threading the jute through the stars and then nailed the rope to the fence under each of the stars. So the nails are all hidden.
Then I tied each of the springs to the jute using pieces of raffia.
I hung it across my mantle and it looks so cool! I love the rustic and weathered look and I really love that is all old junk! I didn't have to buy anything or deal with all the packaging trash new decorations bring with them.
