I was stumbling through The Brass Armadillo Antique Mall on Saturday afternoon...trying to restrain myself....and found a BIG stand full of old yardsticks. They were each like $4-5, too steep for me, but it got me thinking about projects and crafts to be made using rulers and yardsticks.

(I did find a wooden Coke crate for $9 and a vintage suitcase for $20-FUN!)

Then, I was shopping in the cutest garden center ever on Sunday afternoon and found a yardstick box. My friend, Amy, gasped and said, "THAT is SOOO fun!" I figured the universe was trying to tell me something, so here we go with Main Ingredient Monday!

I love these ideas! I have started to keep my eyes open for reasonably priced new yardsticks. The antique ones are cool, but so out of my price range!

  3. Ericka says:

I went shopping at the Brass Armadillo Saturday afternoon too! I can get lost in there for hours. My mom finds tons of yard sticks at garage sales. I love the lamp shade. I may need to do that with some of mine!

  4. Wow! So many great projects with one little, fun accessory! I love the big mirror and the lampshade…and so creative to use them for ribbon storage. Great inspiration. :)

These are all great ideas. I’ve been saving yardsticks for a couple years just waiting for a good idea. Now I don’t know which one to pick first.

  8. Shelley Zimmerman says:

Wow, Love the ideas!! I used about 70 of them for wainscotting, they turned out beautiful. It’s in my sewing room so I needed more ideas for decorating with them. PS. did only one wall since sewing table would cover them up and they are a little pricy to do the whole room. I would love to know how to attach old door knobs instead of hooks to them. that way when the bridesmaids come to pick the dresses up they are hanging from them. Any ideas??

  9. Vicki says:

If you are willing to use new yardsticks, they are less than 70 cents at Lowes.

    • Kim says:

It is really hard to find old ones, and they are usually really expensive. I have seen people get new ones and just stain and weather them differently to make them look old.
