Even though I am a teacher at heart- a first grade teacher at heart to be exact- my academic creativity  runs short at times. I am always looking for new and exciting ways to motivate kids academically. That's why I am so super excited to participate in the Leap Frog Summer Camp with my 5 year old daughter!

Leap Frog Summer Camp is in full swing from June 4- July 29, 2012 and it's for kids 4-7. This summer camp is designed to support kids' learning so they don't "lose" anything over the long summer vacation. There are skill building activities and free printables designed around each week's unique kid-friendly themes. Check out this awesome schedule:

Week 1 : Out and About

Week 2: Caring for Animals

Week 3: Puzzle Time

Week 4 : Art and Music

Week 5: Writing That's Real

Week 6: Storytelling

Week 7: Science Adventures

Week 8: Friendship Week

Each week includes at least one craft, several printable activities and a fun weekend activity or suggested field trip. The activities build on each other throughout the week, but don't have to be done every single day. Just fit all the options into your schedule so it best fits your family and your time. Say what? You are going on vacation this summer or expecting an unplanned upheaval of some sort...well aren't we all?  You can always duck out for a week and then jump back in when you are ready!

These activities are hands on, meaningful, and easy to incorporate into your daily activities.  Our kids will be writing, problem solving, exploring science and geography, and using their creativity while having a blast. After all, it is summer and we need to make this fun!

I will be sharing some more of our Leap Frog Summer Camp adventures the week of June 11. I hope some of you will be playing along because I can't wait to see how we all make this a fun and educational summer for our kids.
