Paint Chip Party Decorations

Whoever decided to start using "stolen" paint chips from Home Depot is a brilliant brilliant person.

I was browsing the mistints at HD or was it Lowes...it's all a blur I was at each one that day! Anyway, I glanced up at the wall of colors and a little light bulb went off-DUH! I have my daughter's party this weekend and why not use these fab color swatches to make some banners!

I found a little "banner kit" at TJ Maxx a while back. It has stencils for 12 different kinds of banners and 4 sizes for each. I was kinda like, "I could do this without stencils." But truthfully, these stencils made the banners so quick and easy to whip out- and they were half price. I am SO GLAD I have them and bet I will be using them bunches in the future.

I also used this freakin awesome bakers twine I scored from Pick Your Plum!

I hung one over the mirror in my powder room.

I hung another on our entry shelf/hanger.

Holden found this on one of our thrift store hunts (for a buck) and she painted it to match her party!

On the same trip I found a beat up old picture frame and I went nuts on that thing! I painted the glass with chalkboard paint and it is working great!

It is on our entry table next to the gift bags and party favors. My favorite party decoration by FAAAAAAR

Guess who picked it up to show off to her friends and then dropped it and smashed the glass?

No smarty pants...not me!

The little birthday girl herself-and she was not happy about it. Now I need to make a new little chalkboard for it:)

The party is Saturday afternoon and we are just super duper excited:) I will share all the party shots next week!

Now that is a clever use of paint chips! I have taken them for years, so have my kids, but I never thought to do much with them, but always thought they were neat. Eventually those paint companies will get wise to people like us and start finding a way to charge us for them. Until then, this is darn cute!

  3. What a perfect touch for your party, great colors and so fun! I wonder if stores are going to have to start “policing” the paint chip with all the great crafts out there now. lol I love your little picket fence, too, I pinned it and have to make me one, soon!
