Do you order from Pick Your Plum?
That place is the devil to me. I can not resist the ridiculously awesome deals they offer on craft supplies and now I have tons of goods just waiting to be turned into something brilliant.
My friend, Wendy, has been coming over on Wednesday afternoons for a crafting part-ay. We have daughters the same age and my son is napping and we get to actually have 2 hours of adult relaxation time. We decided to use the square magnetic boards I bought from Pick Your Plum a few weeks ago and look what we came up with!
We hit my stash of fave scrapbook paper and cut some thick cardboard and got started!
1. The paper, cardboard, and magnet board.
2. We made our own chalkboard paint with unsanded grout and acrylic paint
3. The recipes I found were large quantities, so we just eyeballed it.
4. We painted the magnetic boards with 2 thick coats of paint and let it dry in between
Now, if in the middle of all this your 4 year old daughter comes downstairs looking like this....
you are doing something right:) Are those lollipop sticks in her hair?
Then we wrapped the cardboard with our scrapbook paper, securing the back with hot glue, lightly sanded the dried chalkboard paint, and poked holes and attached a ribbon for hanging.
So easy and they turned out so super cute!
I used a sticker that came in my scrapbook paper pack (it was called "For the Record" and I bought it at Hobby Lobby).
We hot glued the chalkboards right onto the front of the cardboard piece then lined it with ribbon.
I am ready to make one for everybody I know!
I need to make some small magnets with coordinating paper too! Could be a really cute present!
