Valentine’s Wreath from a Bunch of Old Junk

I made this little number last year, but I was barely beginning to blog so I decided to share it again!

I cut a heart from an old diaper box.

I tore out book pages form an old book and Mod Podged them haphazardly on the front of the heart.

(Make sure you choose an appropriate book- I once used a book about World War II and "Hitler" was all over my finished project)

Then I hot glued a ribbon around the edge of the heart.

Then, I cut strips of burlap and hot glued as I bunched it around the edge of the wreath.  I hot glued in between each scrunch of the burlap and attached the burlap to the back of the wreath.

Next, I used my scallop punch and cut out circles from a paper lunch bag. I used this technique to bunch them up and then hot glued them in the shape of heart to the middle of the wreath.

I hot glued a ribbon to the back and there you have it! It was easy and is very unique and thrifty!

I love super cute decor that costs pennies to make! Just stopping by from the Linky Party Hop. I hope you will visit http://www.laughterandgrace.com and follow back.

    Thanks!!

This is such a beautiful piece of art! :D

  3. Super fun. I love the idea of reusing old materials or things you have on hand (don’t all of us crafters have odds and ends to create into something beautiful?). Great warning about the book page – be careful of the subject matter. Ha ha!

This is a great piece, I love it when you can make something out of stuff you already have

  5. Lori says:

Very cute. 1 Corinthians 13 would be great wording to decopauge on the heart.

  6. Lori says:

Maybe the Song of Solomon as well! Ohh la la!

Super cute! I love creating cool stuff from junk! p.s. I usually use an old hymnal for my book projects, can’t go wrong with that one :)

  12. This is really beautiful Kim. It is so amazing how many ideas you can come up with using book pages. Thanks for your comment the other day.

  13. Very innovative and cute wreath, Kim! I know what you mean about the page content/wording…I was taking a photo for a project next to the word “nest” in a dictionary page and realized afterward that the big heading word at the top was “neuter”. Not exactly what I was going for!!

  14. That is just too darn cute and to think you started with a box of diapers. Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day?

  15. fabulously clever way to put scrap paper to use – very artful and sweet!

I just did a project involving book pages and it’s a book about zombies and such…little awkward

  17. What a lovely wreath! The color and texture combination is just beautiful.
